It's the second 3D work of the month!
.
This work comes from Yingzong Xin's collection of illustrations entitled "Bad Girls Club". She depicts the Disney princesses (and other female characters) one by one in a way that is both darker and stronger. Her work is truly inspiring!
.
My second choices of this series was 'Deadly Little Mermaid' because it was one of my favorite and most viewed princess when I was a kid. Yingzong Xin has added a deadly atmosphere, reminding us that in the original myths, mermaids lured sailors to the bottom of the ocean with their voices and drowned them. They gave them love in their own way ... well, I don't think so ^^.
.
I created a version as close as possible to the original reference, with a neutral background. I did more animation work on this one than the previous one: the hair, the fish tail, the bubbles and the tattered fabrics. Overall, I wanted to keep my digital 3D style while respecting the composition.
.
Then I wanted to fill in the background with an environment. So I took screenshots from the Disney film and used many of the elements from Ariel's hiding place. In particular, a reference on the anatomy of the human who helped me a lot on the understanding to design the skeleton.
I've discovered some new techniques in Blender and I'm delighted to present this 3D creature from The Little Mermaid ^^.
